March Favourites/Quarantine Recommendations-Tui

Hey everyone!

I hope everyone is well and healthy. Cer already made an introduction in her favourites post, and  honestly did a pretty good just summing up what I was going to say. Here are the things that keep me mentally positive and distracted during these hard, self isolating times.

I think it would only be expected from me to talk about Tamino Amir and his one and only album Amir ( besides Amir Deluxe ). I’ve been obsessing over him, his songs and his music videos for quite some time now. He is a Belgian-Egyptian musician, who incorporates oriental melodies to what is concidered western. When you first listen to his songs, you get the feeling as if the songs are a little bit too similar, yes, I know, however once you listen them all more than once, I think this feeling will change, because they are actually very different. His songs have a nostalgic feel to them, and his singing makes the songs even more dramatic and effective. Every song is a story in itself and you feel things on a whole other level. It is an experience on it’s own, I would say. His concert also felt like as if it was a ritual rather than some alternative indie rock concert, hundred percent would recommend if you ever have the chance.

My favourite TV-Show this month would be Outlander. It is a period drama that takes place in Scotland. Although I do not really knew much about the history of Scotland, I thought the series do a fine job portraying the era. I really enjoy the storyline however what makes the series this captivating for me are the scenes and the directing, as well as the character arcs. And well, the intensity of everything that’s happening, the intensity of feelings and the characters. Everything. Is. So. Intense.

As for my movie recommendation, I would say Little Women, partially because I watched it with my friends and enjoyed the experience so much, and because the scenes were just so nostalgic and easy that they instantly brought a smile to your face. The acting was great, the scenes were like a slice of real life, you could really get the feeling out of the scene and the ending was witty. Also, I think there is just something with the chaotic sister scenes that I adore; those kind of scenes are to be found in Pride and Prejudice (2005) as well, and they were again really fun to watch. It’s just something that gets me every time.

And the book that I will be recommending will be from the same author as Cer, who happens to be my favourite author ever, yes ever, which is “Killing Commendatore” by Haruki Murakami. I can’t help but love every single book he writes. After reading more than three or four of his works, you kind of get the hook of it and understand that there is no use in trying to understand what will happen next or what is happening, at all. You just read. It was like that in Killing Commendatore as well; the characters are one of a kind, and I mean it when I say that, the storyline is unpredictable. I really would love to write a whole review on it. Just read some of his works, you won’t regret it.

This post is already too long. Oops.

Thank you so much for reading and being here. I hope everything gets better soon for all of us. It is hard to self-isolate, and it is hard to be away from the things that we normally do. We would love to hear what you’ve been up to and what your favourites were this month. Stay safe, and stay home!
