Myself

I woke up with sweat on all of my body. Well at least I felt like so. There wasn’t really on drop of sweat on my body. I had this weird feeling, like I wasn’t even breathing. I  had the scariest nightmare of all times, yet I didn’t remember any of it. It really was weird.

I got up to drink some water. I heard some small steps on my way to kitchen. Someone got out of her bed. My sister does that a lot, she gets up in the middle of the night to go to the toilet. I stopped and listened. Her room was in the same corridor as the toilet, oppoiste of mine. The steps were too close to be hers, actually. However I couldn’t hear the steps anymore, I didn’t hear the noice of the flush nor the cracking of the door. It was not normal, but not that abnormal.

Then all of a sudden, I didn’t feel like going downstairs. Like there was something waiting to kill me. Not just downstairs, somewhere near. I’m usually not scared of things that easy, but this time it was like an instict not a stupid fear.

I mumbled some curses, why hadn’t I turn on the lights anyway? I mean it was two o’clock. Then I got back to my room, and cursed again. But this time it was out loud, and I also screamed a little.

I was just waking up. I opened my eyes slowly, looked at the clock next to my bed. Two o’clock. I checked if I had sweat on my shirt. Nope. I didn’t. Like the time before. Then I got up, and followed me. I heard my own steps. God. What was happening? There I go, right back into my room.

Another me, lying on my bed, the second is looking at the third cursing. It is still two o’clock.  I tried to speak to the one next to me. I could not hear anything.

I know that I am the real one. I am, right?

5 minutes later the me standing next to me is thinking the exact same thing.

If the fake ones died, I am the only one alive, right?

I took the night lamp from my bedstand and hit myself standing next to me again and again, until I couldn't anymore.

Bleed pouring from my head, I heard myself screaming, mixed to my mothers scream.
